Texas is home to over 60 fruit and vegetable crops and serves as the gateway for nearly 14 billion pounds of fresh produce crossing from Mexico by truck each year. In addition, over 145 million pounds of fresh produce are imported through Texas ports from countries like Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, and China via boat. Virtually every fresh fruit or vegetable needed by North American grocery stores or restaurants can be sourced through Texas.
